Current social media app trends
Promoting sales on social apps and instant purchase
Nowadays, merchants have been developing sales on social media apps(S.2010.), such as Facebook, WeChat, and Myspace. According to a report, 41 billion dollars will be spent on social media in 2017. These social media platforms are providing much more opportunities for business people to earn money online. They are selling second-hand products, foods, digital devices, and unique clothing products by advertising on social media apps. According to a report, 41 million dollars will be spent on social media in 2017. In addition, combining with much more convenient mobile payments, some social media applications or sites give merchants faster way to gain money from these applications’ users.
More customer service chatbots
The popularity of adding robots in social media apps have been boosting these days. "What those bots are going to be able to do is provide pretty much anything," said Stan Chudnovsky, head of product, Messenger, Facebook. "They can provide automated subscription content, like weather and traffic, news updates and more."( Mudhar. 2016.) As I mentioned in a previous blog, users’ can add Google Translator account in their WeChat, and then input the words you want to check. The most interesting and useful thing in WeChat is voice recognition( T. 2016.). Users can simply send voice messages to a certain account; then the artificial intelligence robots in the account recognize users’ voices and feed you the information you need back. Hence, I think it is possible bots in social media apps is going to be like Siri that can have an intelligent conversation with users, search information abstracted from the internet, and even help users set meeting arrangement. In 2016, Facebook bot have accepted main vendors such as MasterCard, American Express, and Visa. It signs AI bots already go engaged into business fields.

AI face lens is huge
What’s more, face recognition introduced AI face lens (face filter) to our life, which is really big currently. What’s that? In my opinion, it is a new to way to take selfies. You let digital cameras embedded in social media apps, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat, to shoot your face, and then it forms a picture or micro-video with small face decorations, technically based on face recognition function. It brings social networking more interactions, engagement, and fun. Based on a report, there were more than 150 million daily Snapchat users in the year 2016. Besides, there was around $750,000 cost for custom Snapchat filters within a peak 24-hour period(A. 2017). We can see the degree of popularity of face filters is vast.
As social media is changing with transforming eras, social media companies are guiding the social methodologies or guided by the variation of social media. People’s social habits have been influenced by social and cultural transitions. I truly believe our life will be changed by more intelligent, creative, and convenient social media services. And these unique characteristics will change our mindset silently.
